Never pay attention so deep about LTT, but honestly I am a bit
surprised if LTT already has such framework that enable us to do
that...

IMO, generally Linux still has rooms for improvement regarding system
statistics. Once there was no "swap" field that tells us how many
pages owned by a process that are swapped out, now we have it. So, at
time goes, I think we will slowly figure out what needs to be added in
system wide or per thread/process statistics. Demands are the trigger
I believe, just like law of economics :D
