i'm sure there are a lot of kernels out there that implement periodic
timers like the RK kernel the document which is the topic of the
document you posted. if i'm not completely mistaken the topic of this
thread is timers in the *linux* kernel, so i don't see the usefullness
of the document in this discussion ...
