In there are a lot of drivers that need some love and care to get merged to the "correct" portion of the kernel tree. In each subdirectory in drivers/staging/ should be a TODO file (if not, that's the first patch people can send...) that details what needs to be done to clean up the code. Some things are as easy as coding style cleanups, and others are more difficult, but there should be something in there for everyone who wants to get involved. So, grab the latest linux-next tree and start sending me patches :) I'll write up a better summary of the drivers/staging/ tree and post it somewhere soon, as it seems that not many people know about it.
