Hi all ,

I m very much new to linux.
I am using debian etch(4.0) in my PC. I compiled and installed the kernel 2.6.25.6 .
Everything works fine exept the audio system.

While booting the kernel i am getting a line
"setting up ALSA.... done (none uploaded)"

Now , when i m logged in as root i m getting a dialogue box which tells

"Sound server informational message
Error while initialising sound driver : device /dev/dsp cant be opened
(No such file or directory)
The sound server will cotinue using null output device "

Please help me. Currently i m running the kernel 2.6.16.686.
