I hope, there is some way out. Otherwise, the option i'm thinking of is - running the Redmond OS as host and installing the linux server in a uniprocessor virtual machine.

If your idea is to run linux and not the latest kernel , then
give OpenSUSE 10.2 (2.6.18.2-34, patched ).
a shot. Not 10.3. I cannot put my finger on the problem
but it got my laptop going where the fedora (forgot the version)
distribution could not. Worth a try.
