pls pay attention, that even RHEL kernel is 2.6.9-something...it's
basically 2.6.9 + several backported patches...thus it's not really
plain 2.6.9

Thus, if you "upgrade " to 2.6.10, actually you were doing downgrade.

I believe by understanding this basic issue, you can answer your own
question. Hint: use 2.6.24.x instead
