Do you mind for a bit hackish way? If no, then you may check my blog

(credits to Robert PJ day).

And, pay attention to /proc/interrupts too, especially "timer" irq and
LOC. LOC, IIRC, represents timer ticks sent by local APIC.

BTW, no_hz can change the situation, so you may need to disable that first.
