Now I think you all might suggest me something ??

Boot to your working kernel.
do 'fdisk -l'

If you find your disk as roor partition as sda1 give in grub.conf
root=/dev/sda1

if it is sdb1 put root=/dev/sdb1 in your grub.conf.

And yes, post output of fdisk -l on the list.
