Suppose you want to build a house in a location with heavy winds.
Requirements are that the roof doesn't leak, it has proper foundation,
it is properly insulated, and that it's strong enough not to be blown
away. An additional requirement is that you need to know the weight of
all builders because if they are too light they would be blown away by
the heavy winds.

When the builders ask "why do you need to know my weight", your answer
is not "because you will be blown away by the winds when you are too
light", but "because the requirement says so". The builders are not
satisfied with that answer. Would that surprise you?

Compare the above analagon with Greg's response. Could you now please
explain why you want this information and what a userspace program can
do with it?
