Query regarding platform data

hi,

     i wanted to know how platform data is attached to the driver ? I read that the tie is the "name"  of the driver.

But when we do the driver_register i see no check for the platform data or whatever. i wanted to know where in code and when is that we bind the platform data to the driver ?
