Hi,
Please help me regarding the initrd used on the process of booting. Basically what will be inside a initrd compressed file and how it is made. It is heard that kernel can be booted without initrd and what is the necessity in using such a file. After loading the kernel is it possible to access the file system or driver modules without initrd and how? Please help me in this regards. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Morphy.
