i have installed 2.4.20-8.i am trying to recompile the kernel by following these steps:
edit the makefile for extraverion as (SAHUTEST)( i am )
make oldconfig
make dep
make bzImage
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/SAHUTEST
make modules
make modules_install
make install
reboot
during booting i am getting an error as:
VFS :cannot open root device "LABEL=/" or 00:00
please append a correct "root=" boot option
kernel panic: VFS:unable to mount root fs on 00:00
After this did you copy the bzimage from , arch/ii386/boot/bzimage to /boot ?
