Generally, a -rc version (or a stable version) will follow a -pre version.
But with the new developpement of the linux 2.6 kernel, -pre versions
don't exist anymore.

However, you can find those versions in the 2.4 kernel, maintained by
Marcelo Tosatti. I guess that he doesn't use git and that's why more
releases are needed.
