ps and kernel threads

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

 I have a RedHat 9 Linux.
when I run "ps -aux " see many threads in square brackets,
like
[kthread]
 [kacpid]
[kblockd/0]
[pdflush]

There are of course some processes without square brackets like
syslogd,portmap, and more.

My question is : what is the meaning of the square brackets?

is that specify that the thread is a kernel thread ?

Regards,
John
