I would not have thought RH9 to be considered modern, however, Suse
9.3 seems to only install 1 GCC version:

michael@nemausa:~> gcc
gcc         gccbug      gccmakedep
michael@nemausa:~> gcc

But my question is stiil, is 2.95.3 the offical compiler for the
kernel despite the fact that the major distros do not use it to build
their kernels.
