I have used generic_make_request function. before that i have filled up the struture buffer_head.Iniatially i am trying to write just one block of size 512 bytest of data  in a raw hard disk. I need to know few things

1) what value to be given for the member b_blocknr, b_rsector, b_dev and b_rdev.

2) other thing, is it possible to write on a hard disk without a file system.

hoping some help from you
