SOS - Question on Dual Processors

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

It seems our product, which include both kernel
drivers and user space application, has hitted the CPU
(2.8GHz Xeon) bandwidth limit. The server we are
using is Dell PowerEdge 1850 that can hold 2 CPUs. To
increase the CPU bandwidth, we plan to add another
2.8GHz Xeon on the server.

My question are:

- do we have to recompile Linux 9 (lk2.4) to let it
  support dual CUPs?
- do we need to modify our code (both kernel drivers
and user space application) to take advantage of
  dual processors?
- should we adjust any jumpers on the motherboard to
  use dual processors?

Thanks,

T.
