Question about output of lspci

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the PCI information
that is printed when the "lspci -vv" command is used.
My question is specific to the "Status:" field. I
will use the following output of my lspci to ask my
quesitons:

>lspci -vv

>...
>Status: Bus=0 Dev=0 Func=0 64bit- 133MHz- SCD- USC-,
DC=simple, DMMRBC=0, DMOST=0,...
>....
1. Does the above output mean that the card (device)
does or does not operate in 64 bit? 133MHz?

2. What does the dash (-) next to 64bit , and 133MHz
mean? I have seen sometimes a plus (+) next to a
capability. What does the (-) and (+) signify?

3. Form my reading and understanding of the PCI
register space (first 64 bytes), there is no specific
bit/register I can read to find out if a PCI-X device
is running at 133/100/166 MHz speed, and 32/64 bit.
Is this correct?

4. How does lspci know then if a device is running at
what speed, and if 32/64 bit?

Thanks,
Ahmed.

P.S. I apologize for posting this message under a
wrong subject heading.
