First: the best source of information is the Linux Source itself.
Second: base your work on a device driver that belongs to same
category of problem and is already around.
Third: Books by Bovet & Crisanti, Understanding the Linux Kernel.
                (I don't know the authors), Linux Device Drivers
       both published by O'Reilly
