I don't understand the statement "To be in GPL,.." -- any source code
change to the kernel is automatically GPL (or GPL-compatible). If you
make your modules GPL (or GPL-compatible), you will save yourself
significant amounts of trouble.

I don't know of any non-gpl method of disabling ptrace. I don't even see
a CONFIG_ thing you can twiddle ... maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

As for the reboot on crash, you will probably need to buy a hardware
watchdog. Look at watchdog.txt in Documentation/.
