hi rishi,
the best tip from my point of view is to read the online catalogue of "linux" or basically LDP's kernel hacker's guide plus a couple of general operating system book to brush up the idea of kernel oftenly.
and lastly,
if u want to explore linux specifically, hang any "windows" first!!!!!!

Hi,
I bought a desktop and installed RH 7.3 on it. I
have been a SW Engg for years now, but haven't done
any kernel/driver related stuff.
I want to explore Linux kernel programming. How should
I start? Basically want to gain deep proficiency in
Linux.
Any tips/pointers...
Thank you!
Rishi
