Hi all,

I am trying to upgrade my kernel from 2.4.18-14 to 2.5.70. the following
steps i did.

1.after choosing the options i gave make bzImage and it went fine.

2.make modules...it deselected unnecessary modules and this also went fine.

3.then i gave "make modules_install" .i got lot of errors saying

depmod:warning "unresolved symbol" blah blah and then inside
/lib/modules/2.5.70/

i cud see .ko files. and no .o files.

	a) what are those .ko files ?

	b) my system being RH8.0 it requires initrd and how do i get the initrd
file working'

		for this i tried #mkinitrd --with=ext3 initrd.img 2.5.70
		i got the following error
		unable to find module mbcache

tools used

GCC - gcc-3.2-7
mkinitrd - mkinitrd-3.4.28-1

was anybody successful in doing this upgrade ?.i also did some googling but
was in vain :(

Thanx in Advance.
