I found negative benefit to these patches. If they work for you, good..

This is true. Thread-local storage is evidently still a problem .. many
problems manifest themselves only when pre-empt is turned on. The 2.5
kernel has had many pre-empt fixes put into it, more than 2.4, so if
you really want to play with the pre-empt patch, you might rather play
with 2.5.
