I hate to see work repeated, but I've already done most of this backporting myself. The only reason I haven't released it is it still creates problems greater than what it fixes. Only when they're all fixed will I release it. 1000Hz is of dubious advantage to desktops as far as I can see, but I have no objection to it being definable (as well as the scheduler tunables). I was thinking perhaps 200Hz would be good enough for a desktop without the unnecessary overhead of 1000Hz - and it is a very real disadvantage on a desktop. Anyway I'll see if the latest scheduler tweaks have fixed the hangs in the new scheduler and when they do I'll post an official update to -ck*.
