Hyperthreading and maxcpus

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I am using bi-Xeon 2.6 Ghz nodes with 2.4.20
or latest 2.5.
I would like to know if it's possible do boot
with only one physical cpu and hyperthreading
enabled (thus having two logical cpu).

I tried to pass maxcpus parameter when booting.
maxcpus=1 gives only one logical cpu.
maxcpus=2 **seems** to give one logical on each
physical cpu.

How does the kernel choose which logical cpu
it will use when hyperthreading is enabled and
maxcpus has been passed ?

Regards
