The "5" designates this is the fifth revision of the patch. The README file in the root of my people directory explains my naming scheme. In the future, you can just apply the patch and find out much quicker than email. You can do a test run of patching (just to see what would happen, without actually doing anything) via: patch -p1 --dry-run < ../preempt-kernel-rml-2.4.18-5.patch Good luck.
