console without rts/cts

Hi,

I would like to plug a console on my linux device with a serial port.
(My embedded device has no screen, just a serial port).
Unfortunatly, the serial port has no rts/cts hardware connectivity.
How could I specify to the linux kernel that the console should not use
rts/cts ?

Is it possible to modify the linux kernel code to achieve this instead
of passing the argument to linux, if yes, where should I start.

Thanks to CC in your reply, and thanks for your help
