 From what I understand, unregister_netdev() is called when unloading
the driver, or in case of a hotplug remove event. The 3C59x driver
does seem to have hotplug support. (I don't know about the card as
such, I just looked at the driver). Is it possible that spurious
remove events are being generated on your machine? May be a badly
seated card? Just a thought...
