Herein lies the problem. The kernel doesn't _care_ where you put the module. modutils might care, but only slightly. During development, I've got kernels strewn about subdirectories of my home directory, /tmp, and worse. insmod ./module_name.o always seems to work fine. :) Of course, if you want modprobe to automatically load dependencies, it might be easier to put the module in /lib/modules/<version>/* somewhere. -- http://sardonix.org/
