If you dont have secondary storage, try using NV-RAM. If not and that 
you have a specific BIOS that doesn't clear the memory that will also 
work.
There is another work-around you can have in the kernel. It is that you
do a warm restart of the OS i.e not through the BIOS. load the boot 
sector to the memory location and change the EIP to the same. The boot 
sector should load back the OS again. In the initialization of the OS, 
remember to isolate this memory that you want to use.
I think some of the crash dump utilities that takes the primitive dump 
on to the memory uses some approach to address it.
