change mouse - reboot

Hello,

Does anyone have ideas why unplugging my old PS/2 mouse and plugging in a new
one would have caused my Linux system to reboot!? Nothing fancy in the change,
except that my old one was possessed, randomly veering around the screen at the
most inopportune times. Ode to dust and dog hair... ;^)

I'm running 2.4.13-ac4 with Robert Love's preempt patch. There was NOTHING in
the logs... It was more like a power hit than a crash, though none of my cables
are loose. Fortunately with ext3, no data was lost.

Thanks,
 -Jeremy
