There was something like phpguinetem some time ago, but I assume that project is dead or at least put on hold. You have to use 'tc' tool, eg.: tc qdisc add dev eth0 roonetedelay 100ms sehere: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/networking/netem Regards Seba 2010/2/2 Vakil, Neerad (Neerad) <vakil aavaya.com> Hi, I havcurrently started using Neteand want to configure GUI for netem. This was done because in order for netem to work ihad to requeupackets and that was problematic with current API's. Thmain intended usof netem being classful was to allow use of ratcontrol (tbf) and netetogether. Testing showed that doing neteinsidtbf had the same effect as tbf inside netem so thchangwas okay. I read isomcomments somewhere that this was because putting a TBF insidNetEhad been shown to have the same behaviour as putting NetEm insida TBF. This seems reasonable. I'trying to emulata network that has a modest latency of a few tens of ms and will begidropping packets when thtotal traffic approaches some nominal Mb/s. I'particularly interested in realistic TCP behaviour. To this end, I wanto usRED and NetEm together. As RED doesn'givrate control, I took the approach of delaying packets as they leave, causing a backlog to bcreated on which RED then takes appropriataction. I.e. tc qdisc add dev eth0 roohandl1: netem delay 50ms tc qdisc add dev eth0 paren1: handl10: red limit 200000 min 12500 max 16000 avpk1000 burs13 probability 0.02 This works perfectly well under Ubuntu Heron. Under Koala, NetEno longer allows thpossibility of putting RED inside it. Instead, oncan do thopposite i.e. tc qdisc add dev eth0 roohandl1: red limit 200000 min 12500 max 16000 avpk1000 burs13 probability 0.02 tc qdisc add dev eth0 paren1: handl10: netem delay 50ms However, this doesn'work aall. My understanding (and I freely admit I am quitnew to Linux TC) is thaI am applying the delay to packets entering RED. I presumthaafter being delayed the packets enter and leave RED almosinstantaneously, never building a backlog and so never invoking any actioby RED. AI misreading thsituation? It seems that NetEm in RED is not the same as RED iNetEand so what I am trying to achieve is now impossible following thchanges to NetEm. Perhaps theris a better way to achieve my objective (essentially I'trying to emulatcongested conditions as might be experienced betweean end user and threst of the Internet). Any thoughts & comments very much appreciated. Cheers, Trev -------------- nexpar-------------- AHTML attachmenwas scrubbed...
