Marshall Center Director Todd May to Discuss NASA's FY 2018 Budget May 23

Media are invited to attend a news conference with Marshall Center Director Todd May at 1:45 p.m. CDT, May 23, at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The news conference will follow an 11:30 a.m. CDT live, televised broadcast of NASA Acting Administrator Robert Lightfoot's FY 2018 budget address from NASA Headquarters in Washington.

During his news conference, May will discuss what the FY18 budget proposal means for Marshall, and take questions from reporters.

Lightfoot's briefing will be carried live on NASA TV and the agency's website at:

Following Lightfoot's briefing, NASA will host a number of Facebook Live streaming videos from each NASA center, taking followers behind the scenes for a virtual tour of NASA and how the agency is doing cutting-edge work on humanity’s destiny in deep space. The first Facebook Live will begin at 12:30 p.m. CDT from NASA's Glenn Research Center, and Marshall will follow at approximately 12:50 p.m. More information about the live streaming videos will be posted on NASA and Marshall's Facebook pages.

At 4 p.m., NASA’s Acting Chief Financial Officer Andrew Hunter will hold a FY18 budget teleconference from Washington. The teleconference will be available at:

Materials detailing the NASA FY18 budget will be posted at 11 a.m. CDT, May 23, and will be available at:

Media interested in attending any of the budget activities should contact Jennifer Stanfield in the Marshall Communications Office at 256-544-0034 by 5 p.m. CDT, Monday, May 22. To attend the news conference, media should report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard, by 1:15 p.m. CDT for escort. This event is located in a test area, so media must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes with heels no higher than two inches. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. Photo identification and proof of car insurance is required.
