June 03, 2016  MEDIA ADVISORY In Case You Missed It: A Weekly Summary of Top Content from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center Week of May 30 - June 3, 2016   Save the Date: Celebrate ‘NASA in the Park’ June 18 Marshall and Downtown Huntsville Inc.’s third annual celebration is moving to the park this year. NASA in the Park will be held in Big Spring Park East June 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include exhibits, food and fun for all ages.   International Partners Provide Satellites for SLS’s Maiden Flight NASA has selected three additional small satellites, or CubeSats, from international partners to launch on the first flight of SLS. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the University of Tokyo will jointly develop two CubeStas, and Argotec, an Italian aerospace company, will develop a third.   (Video 4:56) Huntsville Culinary Students Get a ‘Taste of Space’ Fresh off their third-place finish in NASA’s Culinary Challenge to create a meal for astronauts to enjoy in space, we catch up with a student team from the Huntsville Center for Technology. Watch this video to follow the team on their trip to the Food Lab at Johnson Space Center.   Pluto’s Heart: Like a Cosmic ‘Lava Lamp’ Scientists from NASA’s New Horizons mission have discovered that, much like a cosmic lava lamp with icy, churning "cells,” Sputnik Planum -- the large heart-shaped section of Pluto’s icy surface -- is being constantly renewed by a process called convection that replaces older surface ices with fresher material.   (Video 3:43) Journey to Mars: Progress Being Made on Orion, SLS and GSDO NASA’s Orion, Space Launch System and Ground Systems Development & Operations Programs, which together are developing and building the spacecraft, rocket and infrastructure necessary to send humans to deep space destinations, have made critical progress recently.
