mplayer crashes on this font

I had rather old mplayer, but since recently it stopped displaying
subtitles. I've been getting "osd text out of range" error in gaupol
preview, and from google results on mailing list I see "try with
recent" kind of bs responses, so I downloaded latest installer with
smplayer, and now mplayer simply crashed with following log presented:
