Mplayer on Vista: http handling problem

-prefer-ipv4 worked.  
>From Vista machine:  mplayer -prefer-ipv4 http://localhost/movie.mp4 
starts playing right away like it does on XP. 

Do you know why that option is required when running on Vista and not XP?

Does -prefer-ipv4 help?
