MPlayer svn-29238Ubuntu 8.10Gnome 2.24.1Xorg 1.5.2
Either on Metacity or Compiz it works for me.
PS: from where did you take so old Gnome for Ubuntu 8.10? I belive for 8.10 default one is 2.24 from the beginning and Gnome 2.22 is from Ubuntu 8.04
