Mplayer CoreVideo video output crashes with new version of X11

I just updated my version of X11 from the official apple one to the unnofficial community supported version of it which apple bases their X11 on. http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki is the link. Now whenever I play any video mplayer does a hard crash when I play a video. If I play with -vo quartz I get no issue. Using Mac OS X 10.5.7. This started happening as soon as I updated X11, even before I recompiled, but it did not change after I recompiled.

MPlayer interrupted by signal 10 in module: decode video
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
  It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
  gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
