I downloaded the latest mplayer sources from the svn repository on Nov21,2008. Compiled it and installed it according to the instructions in the readme file. I'm currently using openSuse 11. I noticed that if I were to run mplayer on the console for and audio file. It'll play. But if I were to open another console and run mplayer for another audio file, this one just hangs with the output screen shown below. I should note that I can stop the process by using Ctl-C. I noticed the message from the mplayer output. "...Can't open audio device /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy.." This would indicate that /dev/dsp is used by the first instance of mplayer in the previous console. I posed a short while back regarding a similar issue. I guess something has changed since the last time I downloaded the source. Or could it be the development libraries that I'm using from the openSuse 11 distribution DVD or repositories. Any insight anyone? Thanks in advance. $ mplayer cfra-20081120-2.wmv MPlayer dev-SVN-r27979-4.3 (C) 2000-2008 MPlayer Team CPU: Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 - M CPU 1.80GHz (Family: 15, Model: 2, Stepping: 7) CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE SSE2 mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory Failed to open LIRC support.
