The patch titled Subject: mm/page_alloc: fix and rework pfn handling in memmap_init_zone() has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-page_alloc-fix-and-rework-pfn-handling-in-memmap_init_zone.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-page_alloc-fix-and-rework-pfn-handling-in-memmap_init_zone.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-page_alloc-fix-and-rework-pfn-handling-in-memmap_init_zone.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: David Hildenbrand <david@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm/page_alloc: fix and rework pfn handling in memmap_init_zone() Let's update the pfn manually whenever we continue the loop. This makes the code easier to read but also less error prone (and we can directly fix one issue). When overlap_memmap_init() returns true, pfn is updated to "memblock_region_memory_end_pfn(r)". So it already points at the *next* pfn to process. Incrementing the pfn another time is wrong, we might leave one uninitialized. I spotted this by inspecting the code, so I have no idea if this is relevant in practise (with kernelcore=3Dmirror).
