The patch titled Subject: ocfs2: fill in the unused portion of the block with zeros by dio_zero_block() has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is ocfs2-fill-in-the-unused-portion-of-the-block-with-zeros-by-dio_zero_block.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/ocfs2-fill-in-the-unused-portion-of-the-block-with-zeros-by-dio_zero_block.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/ocfs2-fill-in-the-unused-portion-of-the-block-with-zeros-by-dio_zero_block.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: jiangyiwen <jiangyiwen@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: ocfs2: fill in the unused portion of the block with zeros by dio_zero_block() A simplified test case is (this case from Ryan): 1) dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/hello bs=512 count=1 oflag=direct; 2) truncate /mnt/hello -s 2097152 file 'hello' is not exist before test. After this command, file 'hello' should be all zero. But 512~4096 is some random data. Setting bh state to new when get a new block, if so, direct_io_worker()->dio_zero_block() will fill-in the unused portion of the block with zero.
