could you post your ./configure summary please. It should look like:

Perl extension disabled
PHP extension disabled
Python extension disabled
Tcl extension disabled
ZLIB enabled (-lz)
Freetype library enabled (/usr/bin/freetype-config)
GIF library disabled
PNG library enabled (-lpng)
