flashing the firmware image completely overwrites everything from the kernel-power package. just reflashing the kernel would have been sufficient if it was a kernel problem: flasher-3.5 -f --flash-only=kernel -R -F <firmware-image> but it seems that something else is the cause (broken home?). Modern Linux system don't need nor use a /lib/modules/current link. kernel-power fixes the broken /sbin/preinit so that it also uses "uname -r" to look up the correct modules. Therefore every kernel that is reflashed will find its own modules.
