API to read/write in sim cards

Is maemo provides api to access sim card  filesystem? I need a secure mechanism to read / write information on the device and I think that using sim card is a good option. Does someone have another suggestion? I need my application be the only application able to write/read in the filesystem. Does you know if I can enable this secure mechanism for the SD card, since originally SD means Secure Digital.
