Try "mount -o remount,rw /dev/mmcblk1p1" before the swapoff?

Finally my FAT partition is formatted again.
The chain of commands was:

# mount -o remount,rw /dev/mmcblk0p1
# swapoff /media/mmc1/.swap
# umount /media/mmc1/
# mkdosfs /dev/mmcblk0p1
