I tried some other OOo documents this morning, and Abiword couldn't
handle a single one of them, including a simple 1-paragraph letterhead
with no graphics (although it does contain an auto-update date field). A
1-page calendar that consists of a single table and no graphics or fancy
formatting opens in its original version as 90 pages(!!!) of garbage,
but when I edited it to replace personal information with nonsense it
wouldn't open at all. That makes no sense at all, since all I did was
replace text with like text. Anyway, I submitted a bug report and
attached the non-sensitive version of the calendar.

(Remember this is on my desktop machine, not the IT version, which I
haven't tried yet.)
