How to access the flash rootfs?

I was tinkering with a few files on my N800 (OS2008), then rebooted
it. Now it doesn't get any futher than the startup screen with the
Nokia logo..

Could it be the result of putting this into /etc/sudoers?:
user ALL = PASSWD: ALL

And at any rate, is there a way to get access to the rootfs on the
device, to fix/recover whatever's causing trouble? I really don't want
to flash and loose all of my stuff, again.. I'll have to look into
using my SD card as a rootfs, again :) Makes it a lot easier to
recover.

Thanks
