I didn't mean to imply that it drains the battery in a few hours while idle. It drains the battery in a few hours of e-book reading, with the screen on. Keeping the tablet offline increases my e-book reading time a bit. Also, I have load-applet and statusbarclock installed, and these probably don't help with power savings.
