The alphasmart is a portable full-soze keyboard -- though it won't fit
in your shirt pocket. It's quite rugged, it's self-powered (with three
AA batteries that tend to last nine months or so), it can be used on its
own -- then you type and edit into memory, and when plugged into a
computer, it acts as a USB keyboard. And it you press 'send' on it, it
will type in everything you typed into it before. It's a dream for
first-draft writing. The only problem is that the 770 and 800 seem not
to accept USB keyboards, so I can't use it with them.
