[maemo-users] OS 2006 upgrade and resulting issues

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi.

(cross-posted to the nokia770 forum)

I just bought a 2005 edition of the 770, flashed it to the 2006 OS level, and
used the http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HowDoiBecomeRoot page to become root on
my device.

Here are my issues:

1). According to the wiki on maemo.org, "Applications listed on these page are
Maemo 1.1 compatible and usable for Internet tablet OS Edition 2005 installed
devices. These applications WILL NOT WORK on devices with Internet Tablet
2006 Edition. For those, check out ApplicationCatalog2006". However, none of
the applications from the 2006 catalog want to install. All of the 2005
versions install with no problems. What gives?

2). The 2006 OS release claims to include Gtalk and Jabber, but I dont see any
new applications relating to the OS upgrade in the GUI menus. Is there
something else I have to do to enable these apps?

Has the upgrade failed in some way? The "About product" tab tells me I'm
running version 5.2006.13-7.

Ideas?

Thanks.
